• Tracking may be difficult in the following situations:
– The subject is moving too quickly.
– The subject is too small, or too large.
– The contrast between the subject and the background is poor.
– The subject is under dark lighting.
– The ambient light changes.
• The Object Tracking function cannot be used when the exposure mode is set to
Sweep Panorama, 3D Sweep Panorama, Continuous Advance Priority AE or [Hand-
held Twilight] in Scene Selection, or smart teleconverter is used, the manual focus
function is selected.
• The camera stops tracking a subject when the subject moves off of the screen.
When the subject to be tracked is a face
If the face disappears from the screen while the camera is tracking, and then
returns to the screen, the camera focuses on that face again.
If you trigger Smile Shutter while tracking a face, the face becomes the
target of the smile detection feature.
2 Align the target frame with the
subject to be tracked, and press
the center of the multi-selector.
The camera starts tracking the subject.
To cancel this tracking feature, press
the center again.
